Welcome to the Moel Famau Walking Marathon! The magical distance of 26.2 miles on the region's most popular hill - and we want to provide a marathon event that is achievable for all hill walkers. and explores every corner of this beautiful area. It also serves as a great opportunity to train and get some quality hill miles in your legs if you are preparing for your first Ultra distance event.
We also make it fully guided...so there are no worries about getting lost or going the wrong way - all you have to do is focus on putting one foot in front of the other, and enjoying those fabulous views!
The route passes through the event HQ area at about halfway (21km), so you can access the toilet facilities, the event feed station and your spare provisions from the bag drop area. We will also set up a water station at 10km and 31km, so you'll get access to water every 10km. The 42.2km route has nearly 2000m of ascent, so it is definately hilly!
The day will have a proper 'event' feel with a start/finish line, lots going on at the HQ on the slopes of the mountain, and you'll be set off in your chosen time group (you'll get to choose a target time when registering) and will be welcomed back to your medal, certificate and big congratulations after completing your very hilly Moel Famau Marathon!
So why not set a great goal for Spring 2026, which will help keep you motivated to get out and exercise over the Winter months and help you start next year in a really positive way. Even if you know Moel Famau extremely well - we are confident that our route will take you places you haven't been to before.
What you get:
- Private event HQ with toilets, bag drop areas and feed station. On site parking at a small additonal cost.
- Professional Mountain Leaders with all groups to guide, support and look after you throughout
